While you're looking around, check out Buckshot77. He has dyno'd 392 wheel horsepower. If any Contour has a shot at 12's it would be this one.

Given enough time and enough money (custom strength half axles and hubs? What's the next weak link?) and drag slicks, someone will get there eventually.
Maybe even this summer?

I can't drive everyone's car for them.. They're gonna have to learn how to romp on their car themselves

I am new to these cars... but why couldnt this be done? I had a Grand Prix GTP that was running 13.1s FWD. Why couldnt a super suped up SVT Contour get into 12's? Neons are doing it too FWD...

because as yet no one has figured out how to get these cars to hook up. solve this and we will have a few 12 second cars floating around.

what is really so different about these cars compared to neons and GTP's (etc..) that we can't find a way to get them to hook up?
anyone ever look into traction bars or even wheelie bars?

Bah... IMHO i think it's the drivers and not the cars Their a couple high HP tours that are well n capable of cracking 12's wide open, dare i say high 11's... that FWD excuse is lame, lots of FWD cars are running stellar times, my main comparison to the SVT is 95-99 5spd nissan maximas, although they take to mods much better and have way more aftermarket parts available. Fully loaded GXE's and SE's weigh about the same as a SVT. Only difference is they have been in the 12's and 11's for a while now... the fastest max in the US as of right now is a MD resident... Hell they have an AUTOMATIC 5th gen (2000-2003) max running low 12's on nitrous... Despite having a award winning engine design i don't think there FWD setup, transmission gearing, suspension setups, etc.. are any better than a CSVT. But to play devils advocate for a second, IIRC wavdr (sp?) turbo tour ran a 13.5 with only 220HP @ 5psi? driver has a LOT to do with it... then you have demons 13.4 ALL MOTOR time... also the other turbo tour that ran a 13.2... so i don't think it's impossible, it just hasn't been done yet.

Maxima's are lighter. Most are MUCH lighter.
Maximas DON'T break axles.
Maxima's can actually hook up.
Maxima's are a great FWD car with a stellar engine, but they are still driving the wrong wheels.
