Really? I didn't know you had contacts into the CIA and FBI that have countered previous statements made by both of those agencies on foiled plots and arrests/deportations made since 9/11...
Rather, they ("they" being Islamic Fundamentalists) HAVE tried but haven't recently succeeded.

My point was people do not 'see' anything happening, so they think there is no tangible threat.
With rape and murder you want the perpatrators (sp?) to know that they will get caught to stop them.
With terrorists its a different game. If you catch one of them, then the others will change their lifes around so that their system of communication and passing things can still be done successfully. That is why typically when terrorists are captured the "How" is usually very vague, and the smaller guys are not reported.
Captain obvious strikes again....
With terrorists, you want them to know they will be caught too...
A good deterent to crime is the GUARANTEE of capture. In essence, terrorism and murder/rape are all crimes. Those who commit said crimes are acting on the chance they won't be caught. No difference between a common criminal and terrorist in that aspect.
Going off of what you stated above, people don't "SEE" anything happening with a murderer/rapist until said crime takes place. Same with terrorism, as you stated above. We don't ever EXPECT to be victims of crime. We don't ever expect our neighbor to pull a gun out on us. We don't ever expect to be jumped in our houses and be raped. And we certainly never expect airplanes to fly into structures that stand 110 stories tall.
The point being, that terrorism, murder, rape, and all other criminals act when they have the opportunity. If we as Americans are not giving them that opportunity, then most likely there will be exactly what we have now. No acts against the United States. That doesn't mean that there isn't activity or terror cells amongst us, but rather they are not acting on a large scale due to the vigilance of the American government and public. And I for one, thank President George W. Bush for putting much of that vigilance into action.
