Ya. I know about the european attitude toward the world. Seems the French "laisser faire" philosophy has infected the continent.

Strikes me as kinda sad that the folks across the pond didn't learn anything about the real world from WWI & WWII. Especially after WWII they should know that you cannot placate a tyrant. Tyrants are like women, they all want 1 thing - MORE.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Europeans have learned from two wars, that is why they will do almost anything to avoid a war they are sure will gain nothing. Not saying necessarily support the European view or not. The argument here is that since Iraq Europeans feel that the world is a more dangerous place. On average about 60% of Europeans in 2003 believed the world was more dangerous after the Iraq war. Look at it from the view of Europeans, looks like neo-colonialism. The Europeans saw a problem but the did not buy into the US stand that Iraq was a threat to the world. This is why Res. 1441 has such an ambiguous paragraph stating
Quote:

13. Recalls, in that context, that the Council has repeatedly warned Iraq that it will face serious consequences as a result of its continued violations of its obligations

This is not, to Europeans, a clause for force.

On a side note my IR professor is going to meet with Bush and Rice and be part of the group from Washington visiting.

Europens believe in time outs.
Americans believe in spankings. :-)

You can cut the irony with a knife. Here the Europeans are trying to advise on what is appropriate in times of war during the 60th anniversary of the unveiling of the Holocaust. It is the same mindset being taken by freaks such as the author of the linked website that allowed the Nazis to take over Europe. Their goal back then was to avoid war at all costs, and it appears now that their goal is to come up with all excuses about why we (not even them) should avoid war.

I'm very grateful they do not run our country. Thank you, George.

Yes, Thank you President George W. Bush. We haven't had a single act of terrorism on our shores since 9/11....

Sadam was a tyrant, plain and simple. Kids at school who would say something bad about him would have to watch their families die before their eyes. How would you like it if, since you posted that you don't like G.W. he would send people to your house, kill everyone in your family and then torture you for the next 15 years. Sounded like a Eutopia before we got there. There are times to gather stones.

That's only because they haven't tried again.
