I have seen a couple of these on the forums and they seem like a pretty great thing. Here it is on www.woot.com Get it while they last.

Your MP3 collection...on wheels? Itââ?¬â?¢s more than just a beautiful dream. Simply install dis herre DMP1 Mobile Media Jukebox wherever youââ?¬â?¢d put a car CD changer, and wirelessly load it up with up to 20GB of music from your PC. Thanks to the auto sync feature, it can sit out in your garage and fetch the content you want while youââ?¬â?¢re snug in bed, like a faithful puppy without the mess. Youââ?¬â?¢ll roll off to work every morning armed with a fresh batch of tunes, news, audiobooks, whatever ââ?¬â?? enough to keep you relaxed even through the Ventura Freewayââ?¬â?¢s nastiest traffic snarls. In a pinch, you can use the USB-equipped removable HDD (20 gigs, remember?) to shuttle data between home and work, or to grab your own copies of a friendââ?¬â?¢s killer collection of audio files (hey, what the recording industryââ?¬â?¢s lawyers donââ?¬â?¢t know wonââ?¬â?¢t hurt you).

The butt-simple interface has been tested on chimpanzees to ensure ease of use (note: this claim is not endorsed by reality). And its crafted of durable heat-resistant plastic, so on summer days you wont find a glob of grey goo where your DMP1 used to be.

The included USB-to-WiFi internet adapter is the mortar that holds the House of OmniFi together, the straw that stirs the OmniFi drink. Sure, you can run Cat-5 cable out to your garage ââ?¬â?? and maybe you already have. But the rest of us can use of the included DWL-121 WiFi Adapter for your car, made for Omnifi by D-Link.

Finally, weve thrown in some SimpleCenter software to quickly and reliably rip tracks from CD to MP3, and uncannily sniff out your media and label it with all the relevant discographical info. All told, thats a car player, a wireless adapter, and you, burning up the highway with your stash of completely legitmate MP3s. Rock sensibly!

They'll probably have it again, I've seen it on there more than once.

yup, I actually got mine from woot the second time they had the car & home units together. I believe they've had just the car unit by itself twice now. A great deal if you just want the car unit, in fact, I better not let my wife see this or she's gonna want one also.

Thats a GREAT price. I dont think you'll be able to get it any cheaper on ebay. I would know, I just spent all of a week recently to get one, and finally ended up getting one off a fellow CEG'er for, well, pretty much the same as the woot deal.

EDIT: btw, for all intersted, Ominfi seems to have stopped development on this product, with the exception of bugfixes (which they seem to have a very relaxed view on what a "bug" actually is). For support of the product, and an almost religious following of the product, try these message boards:

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/omnifi/

I've found a wealth of information there.

I do want to add that support directly from Omnifi has been very good. There is not an email sent that hasn't been responded to. They're just slow about firmware updates (apparently due to some recent political/legal issues between the writers of the origional software and omnifi). That being said, I am very pleased with my DMP1.

Does anyone know if it plays vorbis? I'd hate to reencode all my stuff.

crap, I looked around more and I think it's only mp3's and wma...

you are correct - mp3 and wma only

you like vorbis? what are the advantages? I've never really researched it before.

Guys, go check woot.com right now. Obviously the car Omnifi is no longer there. The new deal has both the car unit and the home audio unit for $205 to your door.

Basically a song encoded in ogg vorbis at the same bitrate as an mp3 will be smaller. All my stuff is at 160kb vorbis, and I just hate to think of convert it on this pos computer.
