yes, it was much easier "back then"
it really doesnt matter what you, or anyone else in here for that matter, says. they are going to keep coming and there isnt much we can/will do to stop them. so we might as well just get used to it and adapt. this country has a history of drastic changes and another one is coming. if you dont believe it, then youre suffering from "ostridge syndrome"

we are waaay past the point of "herding" them up and bussing them back home. do you know how many people are deported
daily ?
as mentioned early, the only color this country has ever concerned itself with is green. there are countless stories of how farmworkers grew up to be success stories all over CA. not even hundred years ago you could just walk right in. there was no "legal" or "illegal" back then. many of those who migrated over here to find work did just that and had families and eventually bought land, etc...
while i dont like our present overcrowding situation here in CA im sure that will begin to change as they begin to spread out to the rest of the country

while i would like them to adapt and become "americanized" as most other immigrants tend to do. it typically begins with the "new" generation that grows up here. this is evidenced in basically every group that has landed itself here since the beginning. I find it rather amusing that some people get so freaked out about it. it appears that some people are genuinely afraid of becoming the "minority"

hey, if you dont like it, you can always just go back to Europe

ps not one mexican person was involved with the 911 hijackings

and those guys were welcomed with big open arms.
i dont condone illegal immigration at all. i think it is a very sad situation. i wish their country was in a state that was attractive for them to want to stay in. i find it sad that people actually equate them to "criminals" like drug dealers and murders.

hello? there are two types of "crimes": those that are malum in se and those that are malum prohibitum. malum in se are crimes that are acts that are bad in nature. malum prohibitum crimes are those that are "bad" because they violate a statute. (this is in a nutshell for those who seek to google and contradict) illegal immigration is malum prohibitum. i see plenty of references in these boards to acts that are far worse and far more dangerous.

most of us break laws everyday (malum prohibitum) and some even commit the malum in se. to sit there and say that trying to get to a country so you can work to provide food for your family, even if you have to do so illegally, is a heinous crime is just ridiculous. if you wouldnt break the law (in an especially non-violent and minimal way) to feed your family then i dont know even know what to say.
its always easier to sit back and play armchair quarterback when youre already on the winning team.

I wonder how many of you would "do the right thing" and leave the country if you happened to find out that your grandparents, or whoever, came in illegaly.

but since youre rest-assured (or at least nobody can prove otherwise) you dont even have to think about that and might even say you would. let me guess, you'd drop everything this instant and go back to Ireland, or Germany or England and wait for a few years until the proper paperwork was sorted out.
