Has anyone had any experience with engine treatments like the Terralogix TerraClean process which injects special distillation products through the engine either while running or not. Supposedly the TerraClean treatment (engine running) removes carbons deposits etc, from the cats, oxygen sensors, injectors etc. reducing emissions and gas consumption and I assume enhancing performance. Available at Speedy Auto centers, Sears and Canadian Tire here in Canada. 30 minute treatment , $130 CDN. Mileage is claimed to go up 5 to 16 percent and effect is immediate. Recommended by supplier for engine with 50,000 plus km (30K miles)

Any comment on this or like treatments.

Personally, I try to stay away from those things. Most are just a dressed up bottle of kerosene, which tarnishes valves in the long run. There is no Pour-In? equivalent of cleaning parts by hand.

I put engine flush in an 81 T-bird w/ 302. The engine ran maybe 2 weeks after I did that. Threw a piston. My buddy's father flushed a tranny in his Stang and it never shifted right after that. I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about doing but I will NEVER flush anything mechanical. Only toilets from now on laugh

I've heard good things about BG 44K.
It's like a super Techron type of fuel injection cleaner.

It's by BG Products, Inc., you have to talk to a regional distributor to get the name of a local place that has it.

They don't sell to end users, just garages and the like.

Here's their page:

BG Products, Inc.

P.S. It's about $20 for a container that can do 2 treatments and you should change your oil after you do it.

Thanks for the info. For more details on the TerraClean product/treatment, it is a highly distilled gasoline(??) derivative with all additives removed and oxygen added. Therefore it is an 'enriched' pure fuel. It must be applied by a mechanic. It is not a doityourself treatment. The mechanic taps into the car's fuel delivery system and the Terraclean distillate is electrically charged in a pressurized cylinder and then metered into the engine over a 30 minute period while it is running. Independent tests show emissions decline after the treatment. Unburnt hydrocarbons down by 70% and CO level down 40%. Since a licensed mechanic is doing the work the risk lvel must be reasonable. I have not heard of anything else like this.

I use a can of Gunk Motor Flush or K&W every second oil change to get the sh!te out of the engine. No problems and it stops the lifter tick I seem to inherit towards the end of each oil life cycle. wink

I used to still have a little doubt those crap not working. But after I took the upper and lower intake out and had a good look at the fuel injector and the part downstream of the lower intake... I DON'T HAVE A DOUBT THAT THOSE SO CALLED FUEL-TREATMENT DOESN'T WORK! I used those fuel treatment crap a few times, and when I had the intakes out; I still see A LOT of carbon deposite! Don't waste your money of those stuff that claim they can clean the injector. If you really want to clean them, clean them by hand with proper solvents.

BTW, those stuff you spray in via the throttle body doesn't work too well neither. I sure did give my car a little smooth run, but it didn't even remove the gunk from the TB itself!

Go get a Full B&G Intake Treatment which will clean out your Intake and you exhaust. It hooks to the vacuum line and then you add a gas additive. My dads sells it at his shop and loves it. We have a 91 Lebaron with the dreaded Mitsu 3.0 v6. AFter it blew at 60k m and many smoking sessions, he rebuilt it only to have it fail emmision. He gave it the Full B&G treatment and it clean the exhaust and intake so much the car passed with flying colors.
