Well, color me a troll. The Tour was just getting too old and in need of too many repairs. KBB trade in value was only $875, and I couldn't see sticking another $800 into the car (needed new rear suspension and 2 tires), so I traded it for a 2001.5 Passat GLX. Talk about power and luxury! I will miss the handling of my 95 SE, nothing I've driven sets into a corner quite like that car. After driving the VW, I can't imagine going back, though. Still figuring out all the little gagets. The Germans sure are creative. Loving the new (to me) car. It booked trade in at $13,700, retail at $16,700, and I got it for $10,900 with a warranty ($0 deductible) to 100k miles.

Congrats on the purchase. Three years ago, it was either Passat or SVT for me. I'm glad I chose the SVT, because the Passat was just a 4-cyl, but it was a blast to drive. I've tagged a few-years-old W8 as a possible next car for me.

Make sure to hang around CEG and chime in from time to time!

Thanks everyone. The VW is a Tiptronic- not quite a stick, but I guess as good as it gets for a slushbox. It's got the V6, and a surprising amount of torque down low (2.8L).

Yeah, I was worried for you...

Welcome to the troll club Sounds like you worked a screaming deal - the GLX is the full boat trim, right? All the goodies are fun - there's lots of clever little gadgets on my BMW too. I'm sure you'll run into some of the trolls here on vwvortex.

Get a Phatnoise 20G jukebox for it for about $150 to your door. Credit goes to FatWallet for this one - wish I could get one that cheap for my BMW.

Yep, the GLX is loaded. About the only options this car doesn't have are the CD changer in the trunk (it has an in-dash player) and 4Motion all wheel drive.

Heated seats, heated mirrors and washer nozzles, memory power seats that put the seat where you want it based on your remote keyless entry, power this, that and everything else, moonroof, nice pale blue tach and speedo (everything else is red at night.) Not only that, but the car feels like it was chiseled out of a solid piece of granite compared to the Tour. The front and rear suspension actually work together. This far fig newton stuff is pretty cool.

Firstly...Big props to Pigeon for the link to 1stvwparts. 119 bones for a phatnoise is incredible!
Thanks!

Sandman...welcome to the club! Once you go dub, you never go back. Take it from an addict. Wise choice with the V6/tiptronic combo, and way to rock the deal.

I stole my 04 Jetta GLS turbo (with the sport suspension package and tiptronic, thank you very much) with a 10/100 warranty and 2% financing from VW credit back in August.
This little puppy should have cost me 27 large...I walked out the door for 23297.95, warranty included. The dealer experience alone was worth the price of admission.

Good luck, and again, welcome!
