I currently have an Alpine MRP-F240 powering my door speakers (Pioneer TS-A6865 in the front and Pioneer TS-A6870R in the back). I have a MTX Thunder4244 that was in my car until the front right channel started to go kinda crazy . I plan on gettin the amp fixed, I just dont know how much its gonna cost me yet.
My dad has a 98 Contour and I want to give him my old deck (Pioneer Primeer p430 I think) and one of the two 4-ch amps I have (I figure it will be better than the 'premium' sound set up he has now, and it will be easier for me to hook and amp to his door speakers than to try to bypass the bloody amp), now assuming they are both in good working order, which one should I keep for my car... the MTX or the Alpine?

my question is why do you want to power your dads factory speakers? Just throw in the deck and bypass the factory amp. thats all you need for the stockers. no point in the amplifier.

Fair enough... I will probably be upgrading his speakers later in the summer. My primary concern was which is the better amp.

1. Do both have the features you need?

No? Pick the other.

Yes, move to question 2.

2. which one has more power?

3. Which one looks nicer?

4. What is more important to you?

That will give you your answer.

Hey keep the MTX!!
More power, sounds better and has the Ford oval

Neither amp really does what you need for the factory speakers, but it's a start to better sound with the factory speakers.

The factory speakers need an actual tweeter and HP filter at about 125 Hz to 200 Hz, then they will do what they do well, MID RANGE.
