Hey guys,
I am new and want to do a tune up on my 2.5l duratec contour.

What are a good set of wires to buy, and where do you buy them.
Also, what are the best plugs to buy?

Do you have specific places you can order these from (websites etc)?

I don't mean to come off like a search natzi, but this is a very common topic with lots of threads.

I've had good luck with Ford Racing plug wires. I have the red ones. There have been a few reports of problems with them. They have no warranty. They are larger in diameter (9 mm) and require doing away with the wiring guides or enlarging them with a dremel tool and tying them with nylon tie straps.

Others have also reproted that they have had good luck with Autolite plug wires.

Some say that the original Motorcraft wires are best.

Most everyone agrees that Magnacore wires are the gold standard, but they are priced as such.

Ford Racing and Magnacore can be found at BAT www.batinc.net

The best plugs are Autolite double platinum tip APP764.

Jim's info is all correct.. even the search part. I'd go wiht the Ford Racing over Magnecores, though. *SOME* people have had problems. Even for the plugs, Ford Platinums are the number 1 choice, but autolites are a couple bucks cheaper and are pretty much just as good... just gap them right.. what is it .052??? I think, check yor haynes manual or search on here.

0.054" for the plugs. I just installed the FMS wires - no trouble so far, but time will tell. The FMS wires are a little too long in my opinion, but you can work around that.
If I had to do it again, I'd probably go for the Magnecors based upon everyones input as to how well they seem to fit.

FYI: OEM wires are $75 from Bill Jenkins (see sticky in General forum for contact info). I'd go w/ these. As a matter of fact I just ordered them.

To clarify something:

the "ford platinums" (aka Motorcraft doubleplatinum "ppm" not "fm" part number) are the SAME THING as Autolite APP764's.. not better..

someone stated that ford's are better, but autolites are a few dollars cheaper... autolite MAKES the motorcraft plugs.. identical plugs.

and 0.054 is the correct gap, yes.
