I have a 95 contour with 130,000 miles. For the past month and a half the check engine light has been comming on. I pulled the codes and got 133 and 233 when I look up the 233 it says ignition module. Now i did some looking around in the forum but can't find anyone with this code. I did find that the 95 doesn't have this on the "chip" and that is is next to the coil pack. Do I need to replace this?

I put in new spark plug wires (8 ohms) about 4-5 month ago and just since this problem installed new plugs. It started happening shorthly (month or so) after having someone replace the clutch and flywheel. I'm not the most technical so maybe i can get some ideas on what to seach for in archive or ideas on diagnosing this. Thanks for the help

After a bit of searching I found that the 133 code is for the Air Charge Temperature (ACT)sensor. I'm not sure on a 95, but I think you will find it in the air intake tube between the air filter and the throttle body. I have not seen one of these fail for a while. You may just have a loose wire or perhaps the sensor was left out when the air filter was changed. It needs to be tested. The code can also be from a problem with the wiring in that circuit as well as internal to that circuit in the PCM. I can't help you more than that. Do some research on the internet with a Google search and you may be able to learn more.

The 233 code is for the ignition module. If there is a code there, something has happened, and it is most likely an ignition module problem. Again some additional research is advised.

Remember that the codes are just the gateway to determining the problem. They tell you which circuit or system to test and inspect. You are taking a chance if you just replace a part without further testing.

Interestingly, neither of the codes 133 or 233 are in the 95 PCED... ... or in any other of the references I have used.

Are you certain about those codes?
