Hey Guys! I am hoping that someone can help me chase down an electrical gremlin that I am having, which I think could be the mega fuse. A couple of weeks ago my amp light was coming on and I noticed that my interior lights were flickering (dash and floor board lights). At the time I didnt think it was anything since my car would start up and I didnt notice any idling or surging problems. One night, I had a heavy load on my battery, lights, radio, windshield wipers and my car stalled out and wouldnt start back up. I had it towed, and my first assumption was a bad alternator, which is what the shop also said. They replaced my alternator but I noticed my lights would still barely flicker like it did before my alternator went. I had the shop replace it again (free of charge of course) and the same thing happened, flickering lights. They suggested I take it to an electric shop, which I did, and the electric shop said my belts were lose and my battery needed to be replaced. I did all of the above, and when I put the new battery in my interior lights still flickered. I checked my voltage at idle and it read 14.4, so my output is good, for now, but think that something else is wrong and will sooner or later drain everything. I checked some posts and my shop manual and it looks like it could be the mega fuse. So where is the mega fuse located? I checked behind the TB and by the coil, but no luck. I have no idea what the mega fuse would look like, so I took a few snaps hoping someone could draw an arrow to it. Here are the pics. Someone help me out and circle where I should look. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!! On my old Zetec, which may be different, it was directly below where the coil pack is on the Duratec. It's in a box and has a wire from one side to the alternator, other to the battery.
But if you're reading 14.4V at the battery, the Mega Fuse is good. You would read the battery's voltage only if it was bad, since it's in-line with the alternator/battery.

For future reference: double posting in more than one forum is only shooting yourself in the foot.
This is a "collective" information center. Posting ONE, informative and thought out question will allow us to ALL read the same one, and when one person replies, it allows all others to read THEIR reply and feed off that info, to either correct them, or add on, or spur the exchange of information. You post in TO forums, and two people can answer with completely opposite responses and now you are STILL stuck, because you don't know WHAT to believe.
(IE.. READ YOUR OTHER POST.. and don't double post.. and welcome to CEG..)

Yeah, I wasn't gonna say anything about posting that in here... but I didn't know there was a double post. If the other one is in Troubleshooting, I try to stay away from there b/c it'll just make me go to bed at 3am on a work night

If you are going to b!tch out someone, let's spell right!! TO should be TWO!! I am getting tired of the "repost" or "should have posted this elsewhere" thing. I understand the bandwith issue, but this is just text and it doesn't count much towards that. How about being user friendly for newcomers on here instead of sounding like a bunch of "we are better than you because we have been here longer" or "that has been posted before". Why can't we all be more helpfull and just answer the question to the best of our abilities, and instead of saying "you should have posted it somewhere else" those who know can give a response and POLITELY direct them to the correct Forum for future questions.

Keith..
As you have so "politely" alluded to.. I misspelled the word "two".. you are right.. I am SO sorry. Look through my other posts and see how well thought out or gramatically correct they are. I certainly try, and this isn't exactly something that you find "all the time". I still fail to see how this changes the TOPIC, or my answer. My answer still remains: don't double post, and you will get better results, and more answers. Its as simple as that.
On the other portion of your helpful topic: I was not just baching this guy. I was TELLING him how a double post actually HURT him, and US as a whole, when trying to solve problems, or gain knowledge from said problems. I could have just said "wrong forum a-hole" but I think I chose a more direct approach to showing him the ways that will help him the most.
If you have such a high horse to ride, feel free to take over the 6 hours a DAY I personally log in the troubleshooting forums, helping people just like you. I may not get paid, and I may not "have" to(to.. I know.. see..), but this is what I choose to do to see that the CEG is something that will improve, grow, and help others as often and as efficiently as possible (by not double posting, etc)
You're welcome to try whenever you are ready. Until then, could you lay off of MY back, and try adding something constructive to this post, and possibly ON TOPIC.. thanks.
Ray
(oh.. p.s.. if you find the word "the" instead of "they" in here (or something equally as unimportant), feel free to add another post to your count just to let the world know.. I am sure everyone will appreciate it.)

So if my battery is holding a strong charge around 14.3 at idle, then the issue isn't the mega fuse. What other thing could it be? Right now the car idles around 500RPMs and wasn't sure if that was to low or not, or if I needed to adjust my idle screw. Any ideas. My alt is 130amps and I have no performance stereo stuff. Any ideas I can I can work off of. Thanks
