about how much horse and torque gain would i get by doin a chip. also if anyone has done one what is required in installing a chip

it depends greatly on any other mods you may have done and if the chip has a generic program or custom.

a chip isn't really a "supermod" in and of itself, but it's a great enhancement to current or planned mods.

this is the difference on mine after reprogramming the chip to account for the intake, exhaust and ajustable cam gears

Chip = best thing other than suspension i ever did ... granted i have an atx.

For an MTX its a waste to get an "off the shelf" program.

Get a custom tune after doing some mods.

It all depends on what you want...
higher octane + proper tune = more power

This is mostly true.
The factory programs are for 87 octane and the required ignition timing.
You can program a chip to advance your timing which means using a higher octane gas.
And you can tune out the "slop" from the factory.
But why spend $500 on 5HP.
Wait until you have done some mods and then get a chip to tune your combination.
