Ok audiophiles, I was just looking for a digital audio receiver for my home stereo when I stumbled on the Omnifi system. It allows you to take the mp3's you have on your PC, then wirelessly send them to a rugged 20GB hard drive in your car for playback. You can schedule nightly syncronizations with new music on your PC, and all other kinds of really cool shiz. http://www.omnifimedia.com/products/omnifi_details.jsp?productId=12541&partner=Anyone ever use this? I'm trying to think of where I'd mount the conrtol unit. It's a DIN style device, only like 1.5" deep or whatever, and it works in conjunction with my existing headunit (connects via RCA jacks). What do you guys think?

That sounds like a cool idea. However, I don't know if anyone listens to that many mp3s. Why not get an iPod instead? This is still a good idea nonetheless

bah @ ipod. This lets you automaticly update any new music to your car automaticly everynight, or however often you schedule it. Also I like having a clean DIN faceplate instead of an ipod and wires hanging all over the place, and an easier to navigate while-driving interface. This thing sounds like a winner to me. Plus it costs less than an ipod

I've actually got one of these, it works pretty well. I've had it installed for about a month now. I haven't figured out what exactly to do with the control unit yet, so for the time being it is sitting in the front console and I use it like a wired remote. Overall, I'm pretty impressed, haven't had any problems with it so far, but I also haven't set up the wireless stuff. I just loaded the drive up directly at my computer.

woot.com had the home and car combo a while back for $200 plus $5 shipping. They have brought it back a few times...unfortunately when I don't have $200.

I'm sold then. I figured it would be more, since there wasn't a price on the website. But maybe I just didnt see it

I've seen them sell as low as $130 for the car audio part on ebay, some of the homestereo/car combo kits are selling for a little over $230 same place
