First off I've basically destroyed my clutch (Having a little to much fun with the car) and im going to have a clutch job done soon. I've been looking at the Spec clutch kits and was thinking of going with a Stage 2, I have some minor mods, CAI, gutted cats & precats, and Im a very agressive driver. Do you think I should stick with a stage 2 or a stage 1? Does the stage 1 show significant improvement from stock?
Next question, I grind into 3rd gear, badly enough that Im reluctant to downshift 80% of the time. Is it worth it to have this fixed? Should I just live with double clutching? Does anyone know a ballpark figure of how much that might cost to have done? thanks in advance for time.

It is definitly worth fixing. If you do not fix the problem and just keep on grinding it. Eventually the tranny will start poping out of 3rd. That is no fun.
I do not know how much it will cost to pay someone to fix it for you though sorry.

A year ago i had a dealer take out my trans because of shattered spider gears in the diff (owner before me). The total in labor was $1000 just for taking the trans out.
As far as the 3rd gear, DO IT. Mines doing the same thing and it sucks because you cant powershift, or even just shift fast anymore. Since i have the resources im dropping my trans out right now.
Have already bought the spec 2 clutch and will be putting it in when i get the trans out.

i had this problem and it was a bad inner cone assembly on the 3/4 synchro. also, the little plastic bushing piece in the shift tower had broken off and was making it harder for the gear to engage. its about $1k for that labor pretty much anywhere. as far as the SPEC clutches go, i would recommend staying below the stage3...i went with the 3 and although its a damn good clutch, its too much clutch for the mods you have. team it with a SPEC flywheel while your in there and you are all good

Stage I Spec is all you need unless you run FI. Stage II is garbage because of the kevlar lining.
This info has been hashed out big time and TONS of info can be had with a few searches.
