Humor me here.

All the (newer) 3.0 blocks are the same, variations in the heads, valvetrain and oil pan are it. Pyrocon had a post a good ways back discussing the oil pans and he briefed over the Jag/LS pan as only "with it's own special windage tray". So I am here to ask, why can't it work? Why hasn't anyone used it? What exactly is this "special windage tray" especially versus the new pan design.

Also, is it just me or does the LS not have a girdle like the standard 3.0s?

The first thing that comes to mind is the Jag is a RWD platform so that could make the shape of the pan completely incompatible.

The CDW-27 & Escape/Tribute use the same pan. Also have the same powertrain layout.
The Taurus/Sable uses a pan very close in design. But again same powertrain layout.

I have not seen them but likely the MPV (2.5L) & M6 (3L) use a very similiar pan style as well.

Also what's to say the Jag windage tray is better. There is a strong possibility it is only different to fit the different packaging of the oil pickup and different oil pan.

I don't see how the shape would be a problem. The bolt/studs are in all the same locations. The weird extended section is at the front of the motor and off hand I don't know of any clearance issues.

Exactly no one has said the Jag/LS windage tray is better, or worse, its something that just has not been discussed or explored.

The Jag X-type mounts it's enigne transversly exactly like ours so I could see that oil pan fitting.
