I would check the exh cam seal and replace the cam seal if it is leaky, new or not.. Did you use some sealant at each edge of the two front cam bearings? (the pair that secure the cam seals) m

Good work se7en
I actually checked all that stuff this morning and I pulled a :doh!: on both accounts. I somehow managed to FORGET the camshaft oil seal on the exhaust cam and missed the part in the procedures about using sealant under bearing cap #5. Oh well, it's fixed.
The other issued was leaky coolant. Turns out I needed an o-ring on the t-stat housing (the part that you take off to change the t-stat). I couldn't find any references to a gasket or seal needing to be there, so I just found a well-fitting o-ring and it seems to be working.

The thermostat gasket is available at Advance Auto or Auto Zone for about $3.00. It slips around the edge of the thermostat like a tire on a rim. I would get the correct one as soon as possible.

Not that one. I already have that. What I needed went between the two pieces of the housing.
I didn't really do any mods. It just kind of sat there.

So 18 months of procrastination equals a 2 day rebuild. Way to go Darrel! Did you take it to the machine shop as I recommended for balancing?
