Here is the dyno chart for when my car was stock with only the 3.0L, and the drop in K&N and SHO Shop U/D pulleys. here is my car now with the open air filter, the 3.0L, the Sho shop y pipe and the U/D pulleys. I can't forget that this run was made with no exhaust after the Y-Pipe. I don't have a Cat back system yet, so this is close to what it will be like with a good cat back system. the power is at 213 to the wheels with the stock exhaust connected. I also added Ford Motorsport 9mm wires to. The wires were worth no extra power, but they do look good. The other car on there is my GTI VR6. It might not look to impressive compared to the contour, but it weighs 450lbs less. Now that I figured the pics out. Here is a dyno chart of my 97 GTI VR6 with a cat back system, a chip and an air filter. It is compared to the way it is now with the big cams, VG Manifold, Header, light flywheel, Etc. Next here is my car stock, with the 2.5L motor. It has a drop in K&N, and that was it. The other run was with my Superchip. I was pretty pissed after buying the chip and seeing a 4HP loss.... If you compare this dyno chart to the 220hp chart above, or any of the above SVT charts you can see the difference between my car with the basically stock 2.5L, and now with the 3.0L in different states of tune. Ok last one. Hese is an SVT stock, and one with SHM Headers, a cat back exhaust, U/D pulleys, etc. basically all the bolt ons. Both motors are still 2.5L. THe 3.0L is strong. Even with all these mods the 2.5L can't compare to the 3.0L. sorry to take up all the space, but I figured it would be interesting. Pretty strong numbers. For a minute there, I thought you found some Shrick cams for the Duratec.

You lost me James: you seem to have 4 different peak HP numbers for the 3L - 3 from March with 193, 197, and 205, then 1 from April at 220. What does 'cb' refer to in dynorun3 from March? And what got you to 220 in April? Eric

The 193.5HP run was with the car bone stock except for the Sho Shop U/D Pulleys, and the drop in K&N. the 197.8HP run was with the airbox modified. the 205.2HP run was from removing the stock exhaust, and running without it. The 220HP run was made with no exhaust, and the Sho Shop Y-Pipe. With the STOCK SVT exhaust on the car it still made 213HP at the wheels with the addition of the SHO Shop Y-Pipe. That is a 15HP gain from just the Y-Pipe alone. That is still running through the stock SVT Exhaust!! Hope this helps clarify the numbers.

Now what we need to see is an SVT with the MSDS headers, vs an SVT with MSDS headers and a SHO Shop y-pipe, to see which provides a better combo. And then a MSDS headers coupled with a high-flow cat (assuming the SHO Shop run is better) to see where the gains are being made from, the redesigned y or the cat.

That is next. I will be using MSDS headers as soon as I can afford it. I belive that the MSDS headers have their own Y-Pipe. I don't think there is any question to why the parts make the power they do. I belive the stock Y-Pipe is just as much a restriction as the cats on the manifolds. We'll see. I think when I add the headers and a good exhaust I will be in the 235 to 240 at the wheels range.
