i a mdoing a svt cam, uim, lim, and tb in my 2000 cougar. i already have the cams. i am just making sure of some things. I do or not need to buy all the large pitch componets and a stock ecu with a azdc chip will take the place of the svt ecu. i am saving for the 3l swap. but i am just going to swap the parts in my car for the time being. something to play with.
any info would be greatly appreciated. i am currently deployed in iraq and want to do all the correct research so when i get home i can just dig into the engine.

you dont need the chip, unless your putting the larger injectors in as well...but for optimal results its good to have...your gonna get alot of,..."if your going to go through all the trouble to put the cams in you might as well put the 3L in, cause your gonna have to pull the engine to put the cams in...." type of stuff...although you dont have to pull the engine but like was said last week when someone asked this question(cough.. search.. cough) its a b!tch timing the cams, etc while the motor is in the car..as for the manifolds they are pretty straight forward...might as well optimize the tb and lim while you got the time...

You won't know if you need to buy the large pitch timing components until you tear your engine apart. The change to small pitch happened during the 2000 MY.
Like stated. Have fun doing it with the engine in the car.

it's not that hard at all, I've done it twice and it wouldn't have been any less difficult for me had I done it on a stand.
Putting the timing cover on in car, now that was a different story...

hey tour96se u won that bid i was bidding on with the inj and fuel rail.
yes i am doing the injectors. i am working on getting a 3l but that is in the future, but i needed these parts for the 3l swap anyways.
pope: maybe i can pm u on aol or yahoo when i am doing the swap when i get home from iraq.
i am re-enlisting so maybe i can get the 3l heads get done by kinger to except the split port and a pnp job to boot. i need to get all the large pitch componets for the 3l anyways.so u think i should just hold off on the cams and install them in the 3l. just install the uim/tb and save money.
thanks for all the feedback. i am new to this board but i am usually active on fastcougar.com

thats so true. i bought a svt uim/lim package off ebay for 500. and my car is a 2000 cougar. so my car already has the svt lim just not the injectors.
i am thinking now to ditch my y-pipe that came with my weapon-r headers for a hi flo y-pipe
