Ok...I recently snapped the regulator cord on my drivers side window

. So I head over to the junk yard and pick up a new regulator and motor of $20, came home and spent the rest of the day putting it on my car. I have a 98 SE and I got the regulator from a 96. It seemed that all was well until I was checking through my work only to see that the window rolled down properly but didn't roll up in unison(the back moves faster than the front)...so needless to say I did some more poking around and find that the problem is the gold metal screws that go from the regulator through the window(its two of them...they seem to be too small so the window is allowed to move around in it frame).
So my question is this, is there a different size screw from the pre-98 to the post 98's that trail from the window to the regulator. Because I'm still using my same window just the whole setup(regulator/motor) from the pre-98; maybe its possible that the wholes cut out for the window itself are too big because its only supposed to be mated with a 98+ contique? I dunno...either way can I get some feedback.
TIA
