Pope given his last rites ?!
Anyway, it's just a precaution. He was given his last rites when there was an attempt on his life as well. However, I think he might pass this time. He's in BAD shape. Even though he has the best medicine/doctors available, you just can't stop it when it's your time to go.

I think that if the Pope survives, he still ought to abdicate the throne unless he improves greatly. He is no longer able to rule the Church in the capacity that he needs to.
