I just got my smog-check letter from DMV and it says I have to go to a 'test-only' center which sucks because they do the same test but charge more. Anyways I found a place that'll do it for $48 [with $10 coupon] in Santa Ana [Orange County]. Anyone from So Cal know of a cheaper place?
One more thing, I have a check engine light on. I only have one code - P402 [low EGR flow]. I don't know if I'll have time to clean out the EGR from all the carbon this week [smog's due on 04/08] so you think there's any way I can pass with the one code? Any suggestions!? Thanks

Nope they wont even run the car. you have to get that cleared before they test it.

Thanx I'm looking into cleaning the upper intake, but I can't find the tutorial they used to have on this site. Well I have a week to figure it out.

Find someone to clear the CEL first. Make sure your car is at normal operating temp (re: drive around a little before you get to the inspection station) and you should be OK.
Where in Santa Ana is it?

They will know if you erase the code w/out fixing the problem.
I had the same code on my SVT, replaced the DPFE, drove over a hundred miles, multiple start-ups etc. Took it back and some of the IM monitors read "not ready" you need to fix the problem and ensure the IM monitors are set. The Actron code reader I use will only let you know if the monitors are functional, you also need to know that they are set.
On DURATEC engines my experience has been that the DPFE is the fix for P0402, and cleaning the passages cures the P0401. I'm not sure about ZETEC engines. do a seacrh or get in touch with some of the ZETEC guru types.
You can also get an extension, just tell the DMV you are having problems, they gave me two months. While you are there pay your registration, that will make things go faster when you return.
The test only stations are also more likely to have problem with after market intakes etc.

Yea I'm going to that place in Santa Ana which charges $48 + $8 for certificate [http://smogtips.com/business_detail.cfm?VendorID=7589] but I got a $10 off coupon online from smogtips.com
The code is there but the light somes on and off [prolly the sensor after all then]. So I'll try to pass and if it doesn't [and it prolly won't] I'll come back for a free retake - I live 10 mins from there.

The check engine light goes on and off from time to time but that time it was off and I PASSED [I'm 100% sure the code it still there but the light simply is off - it'll come on again!!!] HELLZ YEA!!!! ...my girlfriend's Jeep didn't pass though [we did both ours on the same day] - she's got a LOT of problems on her car
