WellI might not be the first but I definatly learned the hard way. I bought a set of Matrix Coilovers for a 99-00 Cougar which I cross refrenced to fit on the CSVT. Even the GC's say they will fit a Cougar according to Sp Motorsports. Anyway, the kit fits but with one problem, the top plate that sits on the inner upper strut mount is TOO THICK and does not allow enough strut thread to stick through to stick the top nut back on under the hood. Everything else fits fine, I didnt get around to the back yet but I am assuming they will have a similar problem. My question is, Can I buy just the GC fronts and not a complete kit?? I have Eibachs on now and wouldnt mind the front just a little lower for a nice raked look.

yeah you can buy just the fronts...if you go to sp or cta? they list the prices for front or back or together..so the kit didnt work? maybe you should see if you could buy the plates from the gc's instead of a whole new kit?

You could counter sink the hole in the top hat with a bigger drill bit to suit the diameter of the strut rod and thus allow more thread through.

What do you mean, "what size?" Whatever it take to drill them out a little larger.

It'll be the same diameter or a smidge larger than the strut rod diameter.
