I have two Maxtor ATA133 hard drives with 8mb buffers running on XP. the master drive runs all my programs while the slave is used for storage. My problem is that I can't get any speed out of my slave drive. something happened and I dont know how to fix it. When I go into the device manager and check out the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers my master drive is running at Ultra DMA mode 6 like it is supposed to, but my slave drive I can only select PIO mode????? Does anybody know what I need to do to fix this issue?? oh, and the motherboard is a SOYO Dragon plus platinum edition. 2000 SVT Black/Tan #1633/2150 (a few mods) Alpine: CDA-9835, MRV-F540, MRD-M550 PG: TANTRUM-X 6.5 COMP all around. It's one of two things ... driver issue, in which case try removing it and reinstalling it after a couple of reboots, or alternatively a hardware issue. Shouldn't be BIOS related as once you're past boot XP over-rules it (for drives). Try testing it on your 2nd IDE channel too. 1998.5 T-Red on Midnight Blue SVT Build Number 5320 of 6535
