Anyone here ever use yahoo personals or match.com and meet someone that they were with for awhile or are still with? I have a really bad time trying to just meet women in public, I can't even throw out a bad pick up line. Its really quite pathetic. I don't think I'm ugly(and I'm not posting a pic to get chopped..ha) or anything but even if a woman that I'm interested in is making eye contact with me I have to just look away, I can't get myself to say anything at all. Being shy like that sucks, you'd think that I'd get over it by now(25). Anyway, I figure that its got to be easier to let someone know that you're interested through a personal ad because you don't have to get rejected to your face..lol Just wanted to see what everyone thought of those things?

Most of the women I have met from yahoo have been pretty sub-par. A friend of mine has had really good luck with cupid and match of course he falls right into the "tall dark and handsome" category. Hope that helps somewhat.

Sounds like you could use a healthy dose of self confidence. You should try to address that before going any further. Having said that, I know of a few people (guys and girls) that have met decent people through Yahoo Personals and other online personals sites.

If you can openly assess your goals, and desires in a "relationship" (be it friendly, or romantic) and can correctly describe them, eharmony.com has been one of the better choices out there (cost more, but WORLDS more to go by..)

However, first, I would suggest reading up on shyness, and insecurities. the cost of a book can be rewarding enough to outweigh 3-6 months of fees at one of those places.

In the end, you meet someone from a site, and you have to meet someone that is looking for a shy guy. Lose her for some reason, and you either have to RELIST your ad, and fish some more, or be content not to meet someone.. at least if you fix the problem, you can fish for free...

You dont necesarily have to be unconfident to be shy.
Im a realy outgoing person to people i know. But im the last guy esp. With woman to run around and introduce myself to everyone in a room. and im a very confident person.
Picking up a book about being shy isnt a bad idea.
I think internet dating has become alot more exepted lately. as long as you dont fall in love with someone before you meet them. But if you can use that as a tool to get into healthy relationships. And your shyness kind of goes away when you get past that introduction stage im all for it.
with that said i cant give you a single site because i have never met anyone online other than a few local ceg guys.
But i dont mind being single most of the time. I can spend all that money i save on my car and hookers

Same here. I don't think it was Yahoo Personals, but it was an online thing. They are getting married next month (I'm the Best Man). I'll be down in Atlantic City for the bachelor party in the next couple weeks.
