Hi all I am relatively new to Contique world. I got myself a 95 Mystique with 2.5L engine. Runs good, had some problems with engine check light, turned out to be bad/corroded contact in O2 sensor harness. I make around 300 - 320km on a tank of gas mostly city driving. I refill the tank when it comes less than the last quarter left. I believe it was 45L for this distance. Does this seem normal, low, high? Just want to have a feel what to expect. Thanks

for those of us not who do not know the conversion formulas: 300km=184.411 miles 320km=198.839 miles 45L=11.8877 gallons(us)
this means you are getting 15.68-16.72 mpg. that is a little low. i'd guess that you may need to do some more maintenance.

Im a few hours away in Edmonton and my car is fairly similar. I get probably around 350 to a tank, but right now its kinda sucking back the gas in the cold so probably about 320-330. I find that in the city the mileage isnt the hottest, but it does pretty good on the highway. It might be a bit better than that but i also like hearing the secondaries open up so that doesnt help much.

That's about normal up here man. My Contour was the same way, only I drove it harder than you likely do.
Clean the upper intake manifold and if you have it in you, clean the lower intake manifold. It likely resembles the inside of my ass. That will help things a little bit.

Air filter, fuel filter, plugs, plug wires are all capable of lowering economy..
Upper Intake Manifold is likely GUNKED THE F UP (normal) and will surely lower it more. Clean up your EGR/TB/UIM....

Low economy could also be a sign of your catalytics being gunked up as well, I got mine replaced under warranty at 120,000km and it made a noticeable difference in power and fuel economy.

I average 580km/tank, 80% highway 20% city driving with my average speed of 100kph. 120kph highway 80kph city. Winter temps of -10c.
With that, as others have said, you need a tune up.
Edit: I also have heard that the Zetecs get better fuel economy at higher speeds.
