why? answer me that!
why dont more mainstream speaker companies make quality full ranges? i think the simplicity of installation alone would attract lots of new customers.
for instance, a bracket mounted tweeter. come on people, it just makes sense. no reason to mount the tweet through the middle of the woofer.
a tweeter with 180% rotation would be excellent too (just flip the speaker over and tada, total rotation)
external (well, seperate but attached) crossovers, like in the new infinitys.
i know some companies do some of these things, but why not more? tell me how a full range with swiveling, bracket mounted tweets and solid woofer cone, with external xovers, would sound any different than a 2 way component set with the tweet right next to the midbass.
it seems to me that if the manufacturers worked more creatively with full range presentation, a full range could be a totally respectable substitute for comps. the only downside, of course, would be lack of mounting options, but hey, some people just refer to that as simple.
