why? answer me that!
why dont more mainstream speaker companies make quality full ranges? i think the simplicity of installation alone would attract lots of new customers.
for instance, a bracket mounted tweeter. come on people, it just makes sense. no reason to mount the tweet through the middle of the woofer.
a tweeter with 180% rotation would be excellent too (just flip the speaker over and tada, total rotation)

external (well, seperate but attached) crossovers, like in the new infinitys.

i know some companies do some of these things, but why not more? tell me how a full range with swiveling, bracket mounted tweets and solid woofer cone, with external xovers, would sound any different than a 2 way component set with the tweet right next to the midbass.

it seems to me that if the manufacturers worked more creatively with full range presentation, a full range could be a totally respectable substitute for comps. the only downside, of course, would be lack of mounting options, but hey, some people just refer to that as simple.

thanks for reading the rant

They are mildly popular. Component sets have three main advantages over most coaxial speakers.

1. Seperate tweeter allows you to do more complex installs
2. Crossovers are generally superior.
3. Build quality of the drivers.

When you say full range, I assume that you are talking about a coaxial rather than just a single driver that plays all the freq. SoundQ SVT has some Xtant coax drivers in his IASCA winning vehicle. One advantage in his system is the simplicity of acheiving a "point source" where all of the sound is coming from one location.

If you wanted to check out some full range units with no tweeter, check out the Jordan JX92s, it is one of the best full range units on the market and will play comfortably from 60-20000hz.

The jordans do sound impressive, but thats what i meant, coaxials rather than full range.
id just like to see a few more companies put out truely high quality coaxials than are doing it now
