I found an eBay item that costs $150 that I would like to purchase. The item is worth $300 or more. The seller has 0 feedback so I don't know if I should bid or not. The seller accepts PayPal. I'm usually cautious about sellers with 0 feedback but this seller accepts PayPal. Do you think it is safe to buy the item if I use my Visa card to pay using PayPal?

There is no way in hell I would buy from someone with zero feedback. For me to buy they have to have atleast 25 positive feedbacks.
Your sending them $150 of your hard earned money to a zero feedback Ebayer.
Also remember the saying if it sounds to good to be true it is, applies here, why would he sell a $300 item for $150, unless he just wanted to scam someone for what he could.
Take my advice dont do it.

If you use a credit card to pay Paypal, then when you transact, the money goes from your CC to Paypal, and then to the seller. If he stiffs you and you complain to your CC, they will tell you to chase Paypal. They will be right too.
The fraud would be ocurring after their transaction, in a subsequent one. Since the card was not fraudulently charged, the won't care, nor should they. It would be like you wanting your cash back after you pull it from an ATM when you give it to a fake panhandler.
Paypal has buyer protection available as an option on transactions doen on eBay ever since eBay bought them. Pay the extra couple of bucks to use it.

It's too much of a headache dealing with fraud claims through Paypal. IMO, I'd say no to that deal.

I'd do it. Everyone has to start somewhere. Do get the buyer protection though. It's worth the insurance!

I decided not to bid. I would like the item for that price but I don't want to take a chance. I ask the seller how much UPS shipping is and they said; "ground UPS shipping cost will be 25.00 USD need hurry i am leaving town for 10 weeks on friday"

i got my big block jl audio amp for $450.00 valued at almost $700.00? plus you gotta think, he may have zero feedback now, but he may one of those up and coming powersellers... i trust them as long as they dont as feasable negative, stuff like oooo it took to long to deliver is ridiculous, people put that up there if they dn't get their merchandise after like 4 days... i trust people with all different amounts of feedback, and a lot had less than 10, and i never had any problems, i say go for it

You should never assume anything. New people join ebay everyday. I'd first start by knowing him a wee bit more personal. Send him an email asking him to eleabortate on the item (whether you know all the info or not). Judge him by the type of email you get back... if he seems liek your normal person selling an item, buy it up. If you get some retard email saying I don;t know.. or its autmated... or there are tons of mispellings.. then I would avoid it. I buy things all the time, many times from people with 0 or just a few feedbacks. Never been burnt, yet.
