One of my plugs shot through out the head again on my car and this time it stripped the threads, so it looks like I need to get the 14mm Helicoil kit and have it installed.

Has anyone in the Mississauga or Toronto area had this done before? I'm thinking of getting the kit from Princess Auto in Mississauga.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a shop in Mississauga that can do a Helicoil install? (preferably around Hurontario and Dundas or south Miss.) Also, what is the price range for the install?

Have you tried the dealer Nate?

Not yet. From what i hear most people who take it to the dealer say the dealer wants to only replace the whole head which is not feasable on my car since i've got almost 300,000km on it. I'd put in a 3L before I replaced the head.

Plus, i never seem to have success at Ford dealers so this time i'm thinking i'll try a smaller shop.

Can you guys recommend anyone?

Ok, so i got the Helicoil tap and inserts but the tap with the 18mm socket on it is too big to fit through the hole.

So i did some research in the Duratec Maintenance forums and found this...

Basically the guy took a 10in extention and had it welded onto the Helicoil tap which gave it enough clearence to get into the plug hole. So i went to CT and asked them if they could do it and said they couldn't because the Helicoil tap is hardened steal and the extention is chrome and therefore it would have to be arc welded. They can only MIG weld at CT.

So, does anyone know a shop that can arc weld in Mississauga? (Around Hurontario and 401)
