Mine has them for $17.88, or at least that was the price last time I bought.

I'm down to 22 or 23 quarts now, so I'll need to stock up again soon.

Got 2 @ $17.88 last time I was at Wal-Mart, add 2 quarts @ $4.30 and you get 2 oil changes for $23. Well, then you add the infamous K&N filter for $10 and you quikly jump to $34, but you still save about $10.

The guy at Wal-Mart told me they only have them a couple of times a year, and the local stores were all out of 5w30 (Blue) pretty quick. Lots of the Green and Red stuff left though. Check the shelf on the cases while your there, you might get lucky, liek I did, and find the cases mis-stocked for $14.28. laugh Unfortunately thy only had 2 left though. frown

On a side note, found this thred on VW Vortex, Here . I am by no means a chemical engineer, but does anybdy see any merit to this?

There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.

I found it on sale about three weeks ago (here in good ol' Irving Texas!) for $14.98... I bought two. But I was of the belief that it is FOUR quarts (one gallon), not five... I will have to go look.

Randy.

P.S.- have you seen the NEW IMPROVED Mobil 1? It's got some new additive... I think it's called SuperSyn...

I just found the 5 quart bottles at my WalMart, $16.00 on clearance. Only 10W30, but I feel better about 10W30 in the summer anyway, so I picked up 4 jugs. Plus a 12qt case of Valvoline Maxlife for $14 after the $10 rebate I just mailed.

The MaxLife is, as I understand, a semisynthetic, and at $1.20/quart a real bargain for the Buick.

Who now has nearly 60 quarts of oil stashed away, or about 1 years worth.

This should last about 1 year. 12 quarts each for the Van and SVT, plus another 25 quarts for the Buick.

The Walmart's around here had been carrying them for $17.

I said had "because" I was just told (last week - 2 different stores) that they will not be restocking it (5 qt Tri-synthetic) since Mobil 1 isn't making it anymore. I went there because I had heard they were on sale too laugh
I was told something about they (Walmart) are changing to the new Mobil 1 "super-syn" oil and it's only available in single cases. ($4.50/qt - up from ~$4/qt for the tri-syn)

That would suck if it's true??? I know Mobil 1 just released the super-syn (we have it at work), but no 5qt jugs of it??? Hopefully the people at Walmart just don't know yet! (Heck they never seemed to know when the 5qt jugs were coming in before so... eek )
Glad I have 2 jugs of tri-syn left. laugh

BTW - according to Mobil the stats on the super-syn are equal to the tri-syn. Viscosity, boil point, pour point, etc. Only thing that looks to have changed is the "anti-wear" (super-syn) additive package

I would love to test the new additive (in the super-syn) against the oil it's replacing. See if it's as good as they claim it is.
Without the jug's that's $10 more per oil change for something they developed several years ago. :p It's bad enough they rob us at the gas pumps... wink
