alright, recently I've been changing jobs a little bit. I'm 18, in college, and a hard worker (no bull, I love making money so I try to do my best at all times). I've had a number of jobs, but my few most recent were: 1)worked at The Gap for about a year, moved up, got a promo or two and a couple raises, left due to lack of hours, making $8.50/hr 2)went to a restaurant, never served before so I was bussing tables. money was actually alright, usually $10-12/hr including hourly and tips, but numbers didn't add up sometimes, pretty sure my managers were stealing from the tip pool, so I quit. 3)went to a new restaurant/club/gameroom (Jillians, just bought by dave & busters). money was great, but shifts were 9-10+hours, too hectic huge and crazy, so I left there after about 2 weeks.
Now looking for a job, but I'm not sure where to start. I don't really want to go back to retail making some small hourly wage now that I've tasted making over $100 in a night plus my hourly wages, but I don't think the restaurant venue is really for me. been thinking maybe a bank or a warehouse or something, but I quit Jillian's the first day of my spring break so I'm taking this week to figure out my next move. any suggestions??

I'm 21, in college, and in the same boat. Currently working retail for $8/hr but would like to make more. Its hard to find work in a college town. Any suggestions?

VALET! I made a ton of money at nice restaurants. Sometimes up to $200 a night on the weekends!

But typically a new valet will get stuck at a shotty restaurant. You will eventionally make your way to a regular, nice money making spot.

Look into bouncing or club security! you get paid to knock people out and meet chicks... oh yeah and most clubs pay a couple hundred a night!

production/assembly job. Repetitive, often mindless tasks, easy to complete and kinda fun in my opinion. I made $13/hour during my college summer breaks working for General Electric Aircraft Engines. That paid for a big chunk of my tuition. I wore many hats at that place. I did everything from assembly jobs, to inventory for gov't audits, to creating/maintaining parts databases for the assemblers and engineers. I was an accounting major by the way, so that just goes to show you that GE didn't really care about any prior experience in order to get these jobs done. My favorite part: wearing jeans and getting dirty everyday instead of wearing stupid suits and skirts or a uniform.

I worked part time in the motor pool then for maintenance for my university. Had a really busy summer job though. Bartending is some of the best $. Get a job at a bumpin bar Thurs-Sat nights and don't work the rest.

Restuarant is probably best bet. I'm in a college town that has maybe like 40k permanent residents if that. All the jobs are basically taken so I didn't get a job here. Work my butt off back home though. Not working is sorta nice though leaves me too much free times for things that take way too much of my money.

I'd have to agree with this. You'll also meet an amazing amount of people.

jillian's has a club in it, I'm nowhere near big enough to be a bouncer. yes, I saw how much fun they had
I'm aware restaurants are probably the best bet, but I've tried two already and they didn't really tickle my fancy. great money, not that great of an atmosphere, pretty stressful.
thanks for the suggestions, keep em comin if you have any
