How come the Morel Midbass 6.5" driver is like 85 bucks, and the Peerless CSC-x is 38.00.

There is no way that the Morels are more than twice as good,,,To the contrary, they seem a bit looser and vague. The Peerless are very accurate and sharp...

what makes a driver that much more expensive,,,and not sound better. The cone in the Peerless is more advanced even...

Just wondering if there is a pattern

The Morel is simply a more expensive driver to produce. IIRC, it has a 3" VC.

Its like the Focal Audiom TLR tweeter. It is extremely expensive and one of the most difficult tweeters to make sound good. Most of the time, it comes down to materials and engineering costs.

Well, I have to change drivers soon. The Morels are too loosey goosey and the Peerless are just too snappy and fatiguing with the McINtosh.
Do you have any ideas on what would be a good choice to upgrade to?

The Mac ads so much info because all the nuances and layers get good power, so now, i can hear everything.

I regretfully don't have another suggestion at this time.

are these in the doors? have you tried just creating some kind of tuning passage behind the drivers? possibly by restricting the air volume behind the morels with some kind of rear baffle, you might get a tighter response.

or upgrade to focal or dynaudio, but now you're talking big bucks...

The only problem is that all of Focals and Dynaudios car audio products appear to be available only as a component set. AFAIK, he is pretty happy with the tweeters he's got.

They are in the doors. If you can afford to spend some serious money consider the Scan Speak 18W/8545 or the seas lotus 7" midbass.

Another interesting option is the Vifa M18WN-19-04 from www.speakercity.com
