I got my hands on an Alpine 7995 cd/mp3 deck (no internal amp, 3 4v preouts). I was replacing a JVC Kameleon so I figured it was a very easy procedure since I already had a a spliced harness. I re-spliced it for the Alpine and now the Alpine won't turn on. I think it isn't getting any power.
I am fairly sure that the wiring is correct from the Ford harness to the Alpine harness.
Got any ideas? I was gonna use a voltmeter tomorrow to check and make sure the wiring had the correct voltages.
Also, the original install had a small cube that had the two power wires, the ignition signal wire and the power antenna wire. The electrical digram shows a switch between two wires and the rest i cant really intrepret. I can upload a copy of the diagram if it helps. I took out the cube from the install thinking it was not important and maybe it isn't.
I will make sure to post pics when it is finished and working.

Use the voltimeter to test the ground and power wires. I recently had to rewire my whole system because of a faulty power wire.

That's not an optiistic response like I was hoping. It is possible that this is the case since my last deck no longer works.

Dont qoue me for saying this but removing the "cube piece" is where i think you went wrong. The cub piece is the power aand ground supply for the cd player if i am not mistakin. If all ese fails find another power ad ground and tap into that.

I finally installed the deck successfully. It turns out that I had unknowingly blown Fuse 34 in addition to knowingly blowing Fuse 32. Before I noticed this, I re-installed the cube (still have no idea what it does) and replaced Fuse 34.
The 4V preouts and the overall quality of the deck surprised me. The radio has a sronger and clearer signal, the speakers are louder with half the gain as the previous deck.

No thanks. I'll take my Clarion pro Audio piece over an Alpine. I've had three Alpines and nothing but problems. Maybe it is just my bad luck, but I will NEVER own an Alpine again. OK, not never but it'll be awile before my confidence is restored.

yeah, a lot of problems with alpine decks over the past couple of years ranging from minor cosmetic flaws to performance issues. Those v-12 amps are the **** though!
