How does the plastic trim around the radio deck in a +98 SVT come out? I took out the 4 screws holding it up, so the bottom portion is loose and the top doesn't want to move. I didn't want to break it, does anyone know if there are clips or something like that?

It basically just pulls off. You kinda have to wiggle it back and forth. While pulling on the bottom away from the dash, push up.. THats how I got mine off and it didn't break. The top is held on with some panel type tabs (similar to door panels). Do it slowly, but firmly. Make sure to remove the two screws that hold the dimmer switch in when you get the radio bezel off, or if your too rough with it, you'll break the mount and or wire from the harness.

do not put alot of pressure on the DIN positions cuz i broke mine doing so. if possible remove radio (probably only if aftermarket unit) and use the left side of that for good grip. after that either do it slow and hard or hard and fast. if you do it fast you could lose the gator clips that hold it in, if slow you can put alot of pressure on the mounts. its a lose lose thing so take your time

So what you're saying is that you don't have to remove a factory radio to get that trim panel off ?? It just slips around the radio ? I'm going on the hunt for a PRE-98 one this weekend .

Well , I'll answer my own question :

YES , the stock radio should be removed before you remove that panel . The radio clips to it .
