need to change o2 sensors on 96 v6 duratech contour. Need how to guide can anyone help. Have new job and traveling 60 miles a day. Useing too much gas. Like to do it this weekend.

good luck tex (always wanted to say that to a texan!!) i just did mine today...the upstream rear bank is a bear....if my poor hands could talk...there is a how to in the main site under how to three of them are easy...oh yeah..you might want to try to find them online..cause for 64 dollars a piece,"they aint cheap"

The upstream front sensor is easy enough that your don't need specific directions.

The downstream sensors are not used for fuel control and needn't be replaced unless you are having specific symptoms related to them.

Good time for new spark plugs while you're at it. Suggest using either Motorcrafts or Autolites. Directions to replace them are in the same section of the board as the O2 instructions.

I did both of mine today using those directions, and there has got to be a better way- what does the factory service manual say? Don't get me wrong, the directions worked. But I had to lay on top of the engine and scrape up my arms to do it, and I STILL had to get underneath to actually unscrew and install the sensor. Has anyone tried to do it taking the right wheel and splash guard off?

it would be easy if the alt wasnt there...but good luck trying to get that thing out any easier!!! if you pry on the wiring harness its easy....although i broke some type of fusible link or relay attached to the ecu wiring harnes..prob not a good thing...but the car runs fine..
