when i shift into third gear the car will begin to 'jerk' somewhat, kinda like pulsate, now i'm not shifting too fast or anything, even when i shift as nicely as possible i still get this. It's gotten to a point where it is really bothering me, it occurs usually within 2500-3500rpm's give or take. It's almost like the car doesn't have enough torque to pull the car so it jerks the car, the jerking isn't too intense but very noticable and very quick pulses. i have no CEL's unless the light isn't working.
Also, when i start up my car i get a nasty metal clanging sound, i want to think it's just a heatshield, any ideas?

Sounds like the start up has to do with the starter. Dunno about the rest.

well if you're hearing a metallic grinding noise when starting, then almost indefinitely it is a starter/flywheel issue. Just let the other guys going to warren hear it, it's pretty easy to tell. It's an awful sound, sorta like Pete's mating call w/16 yrs old girls  (she was hot though, I'll give you that).

Like it isn't so much of a grinding sound, but metal clangy sound, i like using technologically descriptive words.

thats the common timing chain rattle....could eventually lead to some expensive problems....

Noises are too hard to diagnose over the intarweb. Leave it till Saturday otherwise you're just guessing........
