On my pre 98 zetec, Ive got a speed limiter that slows the car down at 110 mph, at the raceway, its too slow to be going.... has anyone removed or pushed one back? also, I was wondering if I had to mess with my compression to put a turbo or s/c on...

you can buy a chip, superchips or diablochip, to raise the rev limiter and get rid of the speed govenor. As with any application, raising the compression depends on how much power you are wanting to get, and how much time it's going to be spending on the street, or the track. Do a search, you'll be suprised to see how much info you can get in 10 min of searching

Ok with my neon I removed my speed limiter without a chip. The speed sensor was wired in a T. Basically the speed sensor feeds both the speedometer and computer with a signal. So what I did was cut the wire feeding the computer, my speedometer still worked and my limiter was gone. After a few days the CEL turned on because the computer figured out that something was wrong. Anyway if the tours are setup the same way it should work on a tour as well.

I don't have a chip yet, but even I know that it will be a better worth while investment than cutting a wire on these cars. Especially if you plan on doing big mods to the engine.
I think there are a few companies that will reflash your ECU for you, if you don't want to buy a chip. That option may work out in your favor also.

Well sure a chip will do more then cutting a wire. Shoot cutting the wire won't make you have more power, but it is a no cost way to bypass the speed limiter.
