I run my my Powerbook G4 with the Megaseg DJ software, found at megaseg.com, and a Numark DXM 01 USB and it all works great together. The only drawback is that doing tricks is limited. I started off with turntables in junior high and still use them now and then. Nothing compares to cutting wax, but the laptop makes the load easier to carry and browse through.
