hey everyone, ok before i get into this, here are the specs:

1996 Ford Contour GL 2.0L 4cyl Zetec w/Auto transmission @ 221,200kms

Sep 04 - New Front Pads, Rotors, Calipers
New Rear Shoes, Drums (remachined), wheel
cylinders, flex brake hose

Nov 04 - New Rear brake lines

Ok, now, here are the symptoms:

1) i rarely drive highway anymore, but the one time i did, after 5 mins, the ABS light came on, braking remained fine, i stopped the car and restarted, the light went out. Hasnt happened again since, that was like 1.5 - 2 mths ago.

2) On occassion, when braking (not neccessarily HARD braking either) the pedal will suddenly skip to the floor and i will hear a funny noise (ABS noise?) almost a rumbling sound, and the car will sort of skid to a stop. This happens even on dry pavement with no snow or ice and at slow stopping too.

Im just worried because i have spent now 800-900$ on brake repairs in 6 mths and i dont want something else to be wrong. Any suggestions on what this could be? or what i can check?

Thanks,
Ken

It does sound like false ABS activation. I would suspect a bad wheel sensor. This isn't usually something you want to guess about so have it tested.
