So, I lent my baby sister my truck to tool around in for a couple of days while I was installing her system. And, she pops one of the Bahn plates.

Time to upgrade. wink

Here's the gist of my truck's system. I am bi-amping the tweets and mids with a pair of MTX Blue Thunder PRO502's. In reality, each amp puts out twice its rated 25x2 for around 50x2 @12V. I'm using the Soundstream Exact 5.3 crossovers that I've already got which are bi-ampable (x-over point of 2500Hz).

So, I need a pair of tweets and a pair of mids. My budget is around $100 to $150 absolute tops. The components will be mounted in the doors in the factory locations (Ranger has same 6x8 opening).

Anybody got some suggestions? My first thoughts were some Vifa 5" mids and some 1" Neodymium Tweeters. Anyone with some better components that will work well in my setup?

My goal is for accurate mid-range and non-harsh highs (I usually prefer soft materials like silk for tweets). Oh yeah, the bottom end is already taken care of with a separate sub amp and 10" sub (trying to get a BP1001 if their freakin' site will ever open!!!).

I would suggest some Vifa Tweeters and Peerless 6.5" midbass...Just to PartsExpress.com and take your pic,,,or Madisound.com

There is plenty to choose from with that budget

I second that.. especially since it's dirt cheap at this moment. I already installed it in my g/f's car, and i'm actually satisfied. Sounds ALMOST as good as my MB quart coaxials :p .

You've got the Peerless CSX-X 6.5 mids, right? How do you like 'em?

There are an endless amount of Vifa tweets at PE. How do your mids match up with your Vifa's.

On a side note, how do you bi-amp the Exact 5.3 x-overs? I'm assuming that you need to cut the two small red wires to uncouple the inputs. Have you done this yet?

I dunno 'bout the Crystal comps. They're a pretty good price, but I'm not sure how well the drivers would fit my bi-amped system.

Their power handling is pretty low at 75w too. I'll be at close to 150w.

The Peerless CSC-X 6.5" are bloody awesome...I would put them up against anything.
They have incredible crispness and drum kicks and bass are incredible,,,midrange is crystal clear. They match very well with the Vifas...I have no issues..

Crossover wise,,i dont have both amps yet,,,so its still a mono amp setup...when i get both, I may just use the crossovers in the amps, or build my own,,,I am reading up on crossover design...

The Vifas I have,,XT25 have incredible dispersion,,,the 1" sound a bit compressed in comparison,,,off axis response isnt as good. But the XT;s are huge,,there is an intermediate model the DX25TG05-04...

I have been looking for an excuse to try that combo. Looks like you have yours. Let us know how they sound. wink
