i am looking to install an oil pressure guage on my car when it comes out for the spring. i was wondering which is a better way to go electric or mechanical and in your guys opinion which guage is the best looking. I have tan interior if that matters for looks.

mechanical gauges could potentially get messy. especially in the cabin

I have a mechanical, they're easier to mount, the electrical sender unit won't fit near the sender, so you'd have to tap the block IIRC.

Personally i'd go mechanical, as long as you do it right there are no leaks, mine hasn't, my friend runs mexhanical oil in all his cars and his families and none of them have ever leaked, and some have been runnin a mech. oil gauge for over 10 years. Done right, no worries. and the Mechanical will give you a better accuracy, an electric only gives you a 90 degree sweep, as a mechanical give you a full 180 i believe.

uhh, no. there are a few potential locations to use.

Like stated above, done right mechanicals won't make a mess, strictly from a function stand point they are more accurate (but only by like 1-2psi).

However, it is FAR cheaper to get full-sweep (generally closer to 270 degrees not 180), but it is possible to get a full-sweep electric. The Autometer Pro-Comp Ultra Lite Full Sweep Mechanical is ~$36 the full-sweep electric version is ~$180. (there is also a 90 degree sweep electric version for ~$50)

I knew it was either 180 or a 270, but personally i like the mechanical, cheaper, and more accurate, if only by 1-2 psi.
