I've got a '00 mystique 2.5 nonsvt duratec completely stock. when the engine is cold, and also when i engine break, a loud howling sound comes from the air box sometimes. when it's just sitting there doing it, i can open the air box and it goes away and then i close it and it starts up again. i can also get rid of the sound by revving the engine alittle then it goes away... is this just suction issues or something? kinda annoying cause it's so god damn loud at 6:30 in the morning. lol

I've been driving this car for quite while, hard and soft, never heard "the moose". The only change I did with the air intake was to remove the plastic half insert in the bottom the air filter box.

I never heard Mr. Moose until I moved from Houston to Denver. He only appears for me in sub-freezing weather when returning to idle while the engine's still cold, and a blip of the throttle makes him go away.

If I cared, I'd do something about it.
