I just contacted the CC in my area and asked how much it would cost for them to replace my busted Profile Baja 200 two channel amp with a Profile California 600MSX amp which I figure is simply an unplug and swap job, you know 1) unplug the wires 2) remove the old amp, 3) put in the new amp, 4) plug in the wire 5) adjust and that they would charge me $60 plus tax. Should I be outraged!!!!!!!!!!

So tell me moderators is there more to that which I am missing.

60.00 seems about normal for an amp installation. Did you specify that it was simply a swap and not a full install?

They probably assumed a new wiring job with thicker gauge wires for the move from 200-600 watts max. This probably really isn't necessary, but is always a good idea so you don't short/burn up your amp.

Yes Dave I mentioned it to them that it was just a swap. I have the heavier gauge monster cable reference wires or amp cables in my car already for accessories is how CC makes their money and so the gave me an expensive amp cable kit.

Well SVT Colin I would do it myself but currently the location for that amp is under the rear deck and I must say the 600MSX amp is much heavier than the BAJA 200 and I would have to drill holes thru the rear deck metal and wood carpet while looking up and so I figured I might as well change the location of the amp in the mean time to the back of one of the folding down seats. I wonder if that amp will fit there? considering its length along with the other 4 channel amp that I currently have located there?

Just for your info you dont need any higher gauge wiring then what you currently have. also I wouldnt pay for them to install it, it is way to simple to do by yourself. Just pull out the inline fuse and you are safe. Car audio places will just rape you on installation of anything, and car audio has to be one of the easiest things I have ever experienced doing. Dont bother with them when you can do it yourself.

I'll never forget the day I realized how easy car audio installation was...it was a sad day, thinking about all the money I wasted because I didn't want to take a day to figure it out.

The fuse in on your amps power wire. Should be located up close to the battery. Just out of curiousity, what guage of power wire do you have ran?
