Ive got $800 to spend on subs and an amp. I want two accurate and loud 12's, and a clean powerfull amp to push them. I listen to all types of music, so i need something thats good all around. I used to have a MTX triple 10 box, with an alpine 750 pushing it, but i want something louder and harder hitting. I was considering alpine R-types with a MTX 8100 amp to push them. Any suggestions? If 800 isnt enough money, id be willing to get one 12 and an amp for now, and add another one later.

I was also considering maybe the R-types with one of the new digital alpine amps...

Side by side, with the exact same amplifier (MRV-T757) My Lambda PB15 completely decimated my friend's Alpine R-Type DVC 15" and cost me $200 CDN less than the R-Type would have. If you are going for an all-one-brand install like his, then I suppose you have no choice, but I would invest the money in a Lambda Accoustics sub over the Alpine. I do recommend the Alpine amplifier however. They draw very little current from your alternator, and from the examples I've heard the sound quality is way up over the prvious year's model (my T757)

I agree with Tony for the amp, if you want a lot of power. Or you could get the MTX 6500 {IIRC that's the model number}, and you could use that to push 2 12" lambda Acoustics PB subs. I would think that 2 12's would move more air than a single 15, yet the box size would be the same. Sound Quality was would be hard to match.. especially for the price. I think if yu added it up total, and bought it at average dealer price it's:
450 for amp less than 400 for the subs (including shipping), so you're pretty much at the $800 side.
Give me more beer and CEG before i get depressed!

How much space can you give up? How loud are you trying to get?

I can not even begin to imagine having 2 12" Lambda's with that much power feeding them in a car. Only 2 words come to mind,PHYSICAL PAIN!!!! Have you ever heard a Lambda,...I mean FELT a Lambda play?
