A little backround first.
First of all, my mystique has had everything that can go wrong with it go wrong. So just about everything but the tranny has been replaced.
@ about 220,000 miles, I had the engine rebuilt and it ran great but after about 10,000 miles later, it started making a backfire sound out of the intake below 3000rpms
and above 4 grand it hesitates, jerks and feels like about 50whp. It is sad and frustrating to drive.
any ideas? please, I am desprate for help!

Anyways, SOUNDS like your Secondaries are sticking, usualy around 4 grand the secondaries are supposed to open giving that extra boost in power... Its fairly common for them to stick... Do you have a check engine light on? If so head over to a local Autozone, they will read the code for free, you get the code number, post it here and that could help a lot.
