I just fixed my fuel starvation problem. I did not have to replace the fuel pump (yet). I followed the "how to" on replacing the fuel pump, but found out that I just needed to clean/replace/remove the filters. My '00 CSVT has 55k miles. I removed the fuel pump and found the "initial" round screen about half clogged. I removed this altogether. There is a secondary sock type filter and I figured this would be sufficient. This sock filter was also very clogged, but I was able to clean it with some carb cleaner. I then replaced the external filter that is in between the pump and injectors. Viola, I didn't realize how much power I was missing.
A couple of tips when following the "how to" instructions. I would use smaller tubing when releasing the fuel line pressure. The instructions say 3/8" ID, but I would go with 5/16" or 1/4" if that is unavailable. Also, when removing the fuel line connection to the pump the instructions say to "squeeze the collar and pull". Well, I did this for about an hour with no success. I ended up cutting off the "collar" and using a small screw driver to release the "clips".
Hope that helps someone.
