My high school has only made the news for good things. I may not have absolutely loved the town but I got a fairly decent education from the school system (excepting their seeming anti-technology lack of computer courses).

the two times that i know of that my HS was in the news were both rowing related. back when i went there, there was a car accident involving the rowing team. we had just finished a regatta downriver of detroit, and we had two vans the the crew rode in. the first one pulled the trailer with the shells (boats) on it, and the other followed. the first van stopped suddenly and the second van slammed into the back of the trailer, with three boats spearing into the van. it killed one coach, injured my coach (who was driving) and put a pretty large hole in the chest of one of my friends.  that was back in the spring of 1990. more recently, and much more happily, a crew from st. mary's went to the henly regatta in england (essentially the world championships). they took second and only lost by four or five feet. sadly my crew wasn't quite that good. we were only third on the continent and first in america.

Female student was killed by a male student(Bingo was what we called him) with an old sink to the head in the woods just off school property. He was told to do so by the leader of the DC sect of the crypts. Both the Bingo and leader are in jail.
Security gaurd busted for dealing.
And the latest was the ROTC teacher sleeping with students. I've been out a while though.

I went to East High in SLC, UT. Remember back in about 1997 when there was the big deal about school clubs, mainly the ones for gay students? One student commited suicide on stage, after hours. It was all over the national news and IIRC they ended up banning all non-acedemic clubs.....including my paintball team/club  Also, that tub of ish Rosanne Bar went there during her youth.

My dad was a HS football player when he attended Bloomfield HS and one time when they played and walked all over Espanola they had to have a police escort the bus out of town because all the drunks and cholos came out and started throwing beer bottles and rocks at the bus.
Small towns in this state take sports too seriously sometimes.

tha family that gets charged together.... 
my school has been in mostly for sports. long history of baseball championships.
couple of times for shootings. one kid in my class was shot seven times at 3pm in front of the school for refusing to give up his backpack  thankfully, he lived. there was a big riot between the black kids and hispanic kids when i was in 10th grade. occassional teacher in trouble. drug busts, undercover cop stings. typical LA high school stuff.

sort of the same here....i went to school with anfernee(penny)hardaway....nba player(magic,suns,knicks)i actually knew him pretty well....
he was one of the top prospects in the country...we had all kinds of cool stuff go on at our school our senior year....he was a mcdonalds all american,we had an assembly,and everyone got free big macs....
