It seems like my car is leaking oil from the oil cap. I figured it was due to an old, worn cap so I bought a new one. Now, it STILL leaks... every time I clean the area around the oil cap, it gets a film of oil around it after a short trip. Any ideas on how to correct this? Is the oil pressure too high? I rather doubt it since oil is actually being lost.

Maybe it is your valve cover is leaking.

Question. Is the new cap OEM and does it click when you tighten it (like a gap cap clicks when it's maxed out)?

or maybe, just maybe (but i doubt), did you over fill it by anychance, cause the oil would force itself out

I overfilled my oil system once and my exhaust blew smoke out for a while. I had to drive hard to burn off that oil during my road trip. It cleared up around somewhere in Arizona, after I left from San Diego.

I think it might be the gasket also, but check your cap and see if there is an O-ring around it. I'm not sure, but I think there should be one there to help seal and keep the cap from leaking.
