Hey Tony this is Bobby (rclevasseur@yahoo) did you get my email about the console?? I still want that if you got it...and while we're on this thread I'll ask...do you know of anybody who has run spax on GCs and how that worked out...or your opinion on that combo?

Yeah i got your email..been too busy I'm sorry I do have the console.

Now about spax I have mnot heard if they are good bad or right or wrong.....I personally do not know. I run the Konis because it was either run Konis and GC's or go to truechoice....which stage 2 truechoice is Konis and GC's. granted they valve the Konis to your driving. Are the spax rebuildable? I myself bought Konis because they are rebuilable and I couldn't afford a true coilover setup.

I'm not sure if they are rebuildable, I think I'm just gonna volunteer as the test bunny for the forum. They're supposed to have shorter rods to accomodate lowering, etc. I have read alot about spax and their long-time rep, etc, and I guess they're really popular with the euro cars. Thats really my basis for giving them a shot...which could turn out to last only 15,000 miles haha

yes GC's can be used on other struts, but not with the best results. I've rode in a few GC equipped cars riding on stock svt struts and the other was I believe kyb's. They rode like garbage. I run Konis with my gC's and it rides nice and firm.

Where exactly do you want more ground clearance? Front and rear or just the rear? I need a little more info..I'm kinda lost excuse my lazy mind.

Thanks!

I need to raise the rear end, the front is fine and I make it over most road terrain fine.
When I load down the car with people it is a lot lower in the rear and it looks off balance. Whenthere is no load the front end is just slightly higher but it still looks ok. I guess I need about a 1/2 in the rear.
I'd take 3/4" because I know when it was loaded it would look equal height with the front. I also like the slightly raked look with the rear a 1/2" higher than the front.

The only thing I can think of is find a rubber insulator seat or maybe use some good quality hose on the bottom and top coils to gain a little more height.

Or the ground controls.

What do you think?

Spax was what all the Formula 1 teams used. Best I ever had!!

thanks for the info. Makes me feel better about buying spax adjustables instead of the koni's... I was pretty set on the Koni's but the guy at BAT (Eric?) said not only were they out of stock of the Koni's but also the spax were equal in spec. In fact maybe a tiny bit better since they had a larger range of adjustment. Obviously this is a new part for the CSVT so it was good to hear your input. I'll let you guys know how I like them...

Any known problem with Spax struts in general? I didn't check to see if they had a lifetime warranty so that kinda worries me. Please tell me asap if there is some reason why I should call up and change my order (I ordered just a few minutes ago).

Also I ordered upper strut mounts since everyone 'round here seems to feel they need replacement at 60K miles -- I'm at 50K but drive my car hard, BAT said more like 80K but as long as I'm in there I might want to replace them now.

Thoughts?

have you thought about H&R springs. I know they'll have the "raked" look but with stereo equipment and a load of people I'm sure they'd ride closer to level? I had them but I wasn't pleased with the look and I wanted it lower all around

Otherwise run GC's and you'll have full height adjustment all around. It is nice to know you can adjust the ride height depending on the conditions. Also I'm not seeing GC's agging in the raer no matter how many people you pile in there. Those fuggers are stiff!!! Thats why I'd reccommmend Konis with the package. The piece of mind to know that Konis are rebuildable is nice too.

Kremit are those rebuildable at all? What about adjustment etc? Just curious thats all. I'd like to know if its fact or fiction that Konis are the only "right" way to go for struts.

kermit do yo have the non-adjustable spax? if so please give me feedback...im thinking of doing a non-adjustable spax/GC combo as you probly read...how long have you had them, whats the ride like (both daily driving comfort as well as when you push the suspension hard) and are you experiencing any (at all) problems yet?? TIA.

I don't think I'd use regular spax with GCs. I'd go koni, spax adjustable, or bilstein. They're find with my roush springs and stay strong when pushed. I imagine with stock springs, ride would be about stock feeling. Any ride harshness comes from the lowering springs. They've got a better ride than blown svt struts.

I don't know if they're rebuildable, etc. Konis aren't the only right strut for lowering. It depends on what you want. How low are you going, track use, need adjustability, etc.? The regular spax are fine for my needs and are doing great.
