How hard is it to replace the o2 sensors in a contour svt ? and what kind of tools do i need?
any suggestions

A 7/8" wrench and a can of PB Blaster is all I use.

how much is the o2 sensor?
oh and would a bad o2 sensor hurt fuel mileage?

You can get them for around $50-70. Yes, bad o2's will hurt fuel economy. If they're bad, I'd suggest changing them. Plus, if they're bad, you're not getting full power out of the motor because the PCM isn't seeing correct numbers to correct for.

ehhh i got bad o2 too i think, i took an OBDII to it a cple weeks ago and came up with bank 1 system too rich so i deleted it, CEL light came on bout week or so later i just took an OBDII to it a cple days ago and got 3 codes,p0172- bank 1 system too rich,p0420- Catalyst Effiency Below Threshold, p0171- bank 1 system too lean... wtf! one says rich one says lean? also when i floor it or close to acceleration is sh*t it'll stick at certain speeds and sound as if i had a rev limiter but after i keep holding foot to floor on gas it eventually slowly increases in speed but if i release gas half way it runs ok kinda until i hit about 55ish then i have let off a lil more. is alll of that just cuz the o2 sensor? do i need a new cat too?

i wouldn't know exactly what's wrong w/ your car b/c i'm a girl ........but mine is doing just about the same thing, except my CEL hasn't come on at all. mine does the same weird speed thing too....when i depress the clutch pedal my rpm's will stick and sometimes go up. then when i let off the pedal it will stay there for a few seconds then go down VERY slowly!! and it sucks too b/c my 3rd gear synchros are messed up so whenever i shift it grinds somethin FIERCE....lol!!!!

ANYWAYS, do you get a really strong smell, too, upon high accleration? (not that i'd know b/c i don't drive fast )....that's why i think i'm goin to need new cats pretty soon let us know if you find out what's wrong w/ yours!

and ya the valve cover gasket leaks a lil oil and it also comes out top of dipstick tube, but ya sometimes, most of the time i can smell [censored] burning
