My right rear speaker has gone out. This is a '97 with the standard (no amp) sound
system. I've checked the wiring with an ohmmeter, and I found that one of the wires
has an open circuit between the connector that plugs into the HU and the connector
on the rear door jamb. The speaker and HU both are good. Does anyone know if
there is an intervening connector somewhere in between, and if so where it is located?
That would be the next logical place to look for a problem. Thanks!

Check the connection where it comes into the rear door. It uses some crazy kind of connector there (can't remember its name). Maybe some corrosion has opened the circuit.

Are you positive there is no factory amp in behind glove box? If not the wire would only connect at the HU to factory harness and the door hook up. Also inside the door on the actual speaker. If your speaker is blown it will give you and open circuit.
